(WABI)- Mary Gaeta had to appear in a Skowhegan courtroom yesterday to answer a summons charging her with animal trespassing. But the charge was dropped after prosecutors decided not to pursue the case.
Gaeta’s donkey, Jenny, made national headlines after she escaped from Gaeta’s Pittsfield farm and went on the lam for more than a month until her capture in late February.
Pittsfield police issued Gaeta a summons in response to neighbors’ complaints just a day before Jenny was captured.
In dropping the charge, District Attorney Evert Fowle said he took into consideration Gaeta’s age, 70, her clean record and the fact that the animal had notescaped since being captured.
