Governor Baldacci has declared Friday a day of mourning in Maine. Bells around the state will ring at noon, to honor the 32 students who were killed at Virginia Tech.
It was an emotional scene at the University of Maine Thursday night as people gathered for a vigil to honor the murder victims.
Many local students have spent the past few days thinking about how they would feel if such a tragedy ever happened here.
The students lit candles and made their way to the University president’s house, where they gathered outside.
Several hundred people took part in the event.
