Guard Returns

Hundreds of eager family members and friends were there to welcome home the 240th Engineer Group, from the Maine Army National Guard.

82 soldiers arrived at eight o’clock and before they were reunited with their loved ones there was a short ceremony including the National Anthem and unveiling of the troup.

Then it was time to go back to the arms of family.

Staff Sergeant James Judkins and and Specialist Rusty Hopkins were among those back from their twelve month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

While the 240th Engineer Group was overseas to help rebuild Eastern and South Central Afghanistan. They arrived back in the U.S. on Saturday.

The soldiers will now have the option of taking up to three months off before getting back into uniform again.
