Bangor Assault Could Be Hate Crime

(WABI) – Bangor business owner Assata Sherrill says the teens threw rocks at her and shouted racial slurs as she was walking her dog along the waterfront.

Deputy Police Chief Pete Arno says detectives were able to identify the three late yesterday afternoon. Two are thirteen, the other is seventeen.

Arno says no charges have been filed, but the matter is being referred to the district attorney and the maine attorney general’s office. They’ll decide whether to treat it as a hate crime.
