(WABI) – It appears that new school will be built in Dexter.
Residents of Dexter, Exeter, Garland, and Ripley all went to the polls on Tuesday.
They voted to move ahead with plans to build a consolidated school at a cost of $30,500,000.
959 voted in favor, while 352 were opposed.
The new S.A.D. 46 building will house students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
The elementary schools in Exeter and Garland, as well as two in Dexter will close down to make way for the new building.
The state will pick up most of the cost, with taxpayers funding about $173,000 of the total cost.
The district hopes the new school will be completed by January of 2010.
