Clam Flats Open

(WABI) – They’ll be able to return to work Thursday morning, now that the all clear has been sounded.

Clam flats along the coast were closed to fishing after the Saint Patrick’s Day storm caused a lot of runoff, which meant that no one could dig for clams, oysters, or mussles for fear that contamination from the storm could cause illness.

The Department of Marine Resources have been running tests on the flats since Monday. On Wednesday they announced that the tests showed that the clam flats were in no danger of contamination, and so lifted the ban.
