(WABI) – The 170 soldiers who make up Security Force One arrived at the Army National Guard base in Bangor Friday night to a hero’s welcome.
They’ve spend the last year serving in Baghdad and Tallil, Iraq.
Hundreds of family members and friends have waited 15 months for this homecoming, and they smothered the returning soldiers with hugs, kisses and tears.
Two members of the unit were killed last May, Staff Sergeants David Veverka, a U-Maine student, and Dale Kelly Jr. of Richmond.
Specialist Christ Frasier was also wounded in an attack.
