On Monday, residents voted to do away with their ":town manager": form of government. They also voted to reduce their board of selectmen from five positions down to three.
The two candidates who were elected Monday say the smaller board will mean more work, but it’ll also make the selectmen more responsive to residents.
Both of Steuben’s new selectmen say that communication has been a problem in the town.
They feel the cost of the town manager form of government was a big reason why residents voted to do away with it.
Though the vote has passed, the changes will not be implemented until next year, when current Town Manager Tom Richmond’s contract expires.
