n Thursday, they’re due to present their policy recommendations to the Appropriations Committee.
aldacci’s plan calls for reducing the number of Maine school districts from 290 to 26.
t would mean one superintendent for each of the proposed 26 regional centers.
he governor also wants to put a principal in every school for a 17-to-one student-teacher ratio.ut this plan would also eliminate 600 teaching positions.
he Governor says 76-million dollars will be saved by 2008 if the measure passes..and he says it will lessen the property tax burden for homeowners..
