Etna Vote

After a heated debate in Etna Saturday, residents decided not to change the way their town is governed.

An article recently brought before a town meeting sought to cut the number of people who run the town – and do away with the town manager.

Etna selectman Fred Treadwell spearheaded the resolution, claiming that the town manager’s salary could be put to better use.

Approving the article would have replaced the current system of five selectmen and a town manager with just three selectmen, but with a vote of 51 to 16, the town opted to keep things the same.
