Senator Snowe wants to know more about the circumstances that led to the death of 26-year-old Eric Ross, wondering if the investigation could help save other soldiers.
According to Snowe’s office, Staff Sargent Ross was on a joint patrol with Iraqi forces in Baqubah on February ninth.
When the iraqi soldiers refused to enter a targeted building, Ross and his fellow U.S. soldiers were forced to take the lead.
The building was apparently booby trapped, and Ross and two of his squad members were killed by an explosion.
A funeral for Ross was held in Orono Thursday where he went to school.
Senator Snowe wants to know why the Iraqi soldiers refused to go into the building, what did they know, and who were they fighting for.
