A Lincoln couple told authorities they were driving towards I-95 around 7:30 pm, when a car reportedly ran a stop sign on Route 116, and drove directly into their path.
The crash pushed the other car into deep snowbanks beside the road.
When rescue crews arrived, they frantically searched for any driver or passengers in the struck vehicle…without luck.
They searched the area for about 30 minutes, using everything from shovels and poles, to infrared cameras. They finally discovered 62-year-old William Cain of Burlington buried in the snow near where his car came to rest.
Officials believe Cain was thrown from the vehicle upon impact.
He was taken away by ambulance, but was pronounced dead a local hospital.
