Clean Elections

The three former Republican and two former Democratic candidates are accused of misusing or failing to account for more than 16-thousand dollars in clean election funds.

The commission says the five failed to meet a December 19th deadline for refunding the money or filing reports spelling out how they spent it.

Thomas Bossie of Casco has more than four-thousand dollars unaccounted for…his case has been referred to the attorney general’s office.

The other four candidates are Arthur Clement of Clinton, Debra Reagan of Sanford, Paul Nixon of South Portland, and David Hughes of Lewiston.

They face similar action unless all monies are accounted for by Tuesday, February 27th.
