A company that has been making fine furniture since 1947 is going out of business. Moosehead Manufacturing announced Thursday that it’s shutting its doors…permanently: leaving a total of 120 people out of a job.
The company’s president blamed the closing on cheap imports that undercut its ability to remain profitable.
Governor Baldacci says a rapid response team will help the displaced workers with job retraining and other services.
Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins are also pledging their support.
