(WABI) The Moosehead Manufacturing announcement comes nearly a year after the Georgia-Pacific mill in Old Town shut down. And now there’s word that one of the companies that considered moving into that former mill won’t be coming after all.
LAMTEC, a label-making company in based Portland, signed on to be one of the first businesses to be part of a redevelopment plan for the Old Town Mill.
Jack Cashman, an Economic Advisor to the Governor, says LAMTEC now plans to open an operation in Westbrook.
The former GP Mill is now owned by Red Shield Environmental. It’s using the biomass boiler to produce power, putting about fifty people to work.
More than 450-people lost their jobs when the mill closed last March.
