(WABI) – US District Judge John Woodcock issued the 24-page decision this evening in Bangor following a court hearing. He sided with the Justice Department, which argued that the case could expose national security secrets.
The case stems from a complaint filed by customers last May with the PUC. It seeks to force the telecom giant to say whether it provided telephone call records to the government without a warrant. The complaint followed reports about domestic surveillance by the National Security Agency.
The PUC has challenged the adequacy of Verizon responses to date.
