(AP) – The Coast Guard suspends its search off the Maine coast for a missing fishing vessel with a two-man crew.
A coastal storm is approaching the search area that couldgenerate 17-foot seas and 40-knot winds. A gale warning has been posted for the Gulf of Maine.
The Newburyport-based Lady Luck disappeared off Cape Elizabeth after sending an automated distress signal early yesterday morning.
The Coast Guard searched more than 81-hundred square miles since the boat was reported missing. Crews from as far away as Cape Cod and Atlantic City took part in the effort.
The missing fishermen have been identified as 24-year-old skipper Sean Cone of North Andover, and 21-year-old Dan Miller of North Hampton, New Hampshire.
A floating radio beacon, an oil slick and debris were found, but no sign of the vessel.
