(AP) – The Public Utilities Commission has accepted bids for new standard offer electricity prices for businesses that should lower rates for most classes of customers.
The new rates apply to medium and large commercial and industrial customers of Central Maine Power and Bangor Hydro-Electric companies.
The prices, effective March First, could drop rates for some classifications by more than 13 percent.
Large class customers prices will increase about five percent.
P-U-C Chairman Kurt Adams says the lower prices should be good news for businesses facing large electricity demands.
He says the prices are competitive and in line with market conditions.
