Educational Commissioner Susan Gendron and Governor Baldacci were in Bangor Tuesday, to address questions and concerns about the state’s plan to consolidate school districts.
Folks packed Peakes Auditorium at the Bangor High School to hear the details.
The governor told the crowd his plan may not be perfect, but he believes it’s a head start to cutting down on the state’s education costs, as well as property taxes.
This is the governor’s third forum on the proposal.
The legislature’s appropriations committee and the education committee will hold a joint public hearing on the consolidation plans next monday, February 5th, at the Augusta Civic Center, from 9 am until 8 pm.
