(AP) – It took a jury three hours to convict a Portland mortgage broker of murder in the fatal shooting of a friend after a night out on the town nearly a year ago.
Steven Clark testified that he shot his friend twice in self-defense.
And his lawyer told jurors today that Clark shot Robert Wagner in self-defense only after Wagner threatened him with a knife at Clark’s house.
But Assistant Attorney General Lisa Marchese told jurors today that Clark was a good liar who would do anything to save himself from going to prison for murder.
The victim was shot twice in the head. Afterward, Clark enlisted the help of his father and brother to bury Wagner’s body on Clark’s father’s land in Baldwin.
