(WABI) – Now that the cold weather is finally here, a lot of snowmobilers are ready to hit the trails, but before they do, game wardens and folks from the Maine Snowmobile Association say riders should plan ahead and don’t forget important safety rules.
Speeding is always a big problem. Other concerns include drinking while riding, which can lead to an OUI. People should also stay to the right of the trails and pay attention.
Despite the cold weather, the ice on some lakes and ponds still isn’t safe.
Wardens suggest before you hit the trails for the first time this winter, brush up on the rules and go over your snowmobile with a fine tooth comb to make sure it’s in good working condition.
