Maine’s Unemployment Rate

(AP) – Maine’s unemployment rate remains frozen at four-point-seven percent.

The state Labor Department says the figure for December, released today, is the same as the four-point-seven percent recorded in November.Maine’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate has been four-point-seven percent for the past five months.

Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman says Maine continues to record growth in the number of residents employed.

But Fortman says the unemployment rate has remained unchanged as the rising number of people employed has been offset by an increase in the number of Maine residents active in the labor force.
