16-year-old Andru Smart broke into several homes over a one-week period. He stole guns and several vehicles.
During the spree, schools in Glenburn and Orono were closed for a day out of concern for students.
Smart was finally arrested in Hudson after using an ax to attack a man there.
He pled guilty Wednesday to aggravated assault, eight counts of burglary and theft, and two counts of theft of a firearm.
Smart had no prior criminal record, and authorities are still baffled as to what led to the crimes.
The teen will be held at the juvenile correctional facility in Charleston until he’s 19. He’ll also have to pay 35-hundred dollars in restitution to some of his victims.
