A former vice president of the Hannaford supermarket chain has been sentenced to almost four years in prison for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from his employer.
51 year-old Martin Greeley of Scarborough pled guilty last August to charges of mail fraud and tax evasion.
In addition to his 46 month prison sentence, Greeley was ordered to pay more than 650-thousand dollars in restitution.
Prosecutors say Greeley created fake vendors, then authorized payments from hannaford to those vendors, and deposited the checks into an account he set up for the purpose.
Greeley worked for hannaford for 26 years, starting as a meat cutter before working his way up the chain to V.P.
