Lawmakers spent much of Thursday digesting what they heard during the governor’s inaugural address Wednesday night. The governor indicated property tax relief and economic development will be among his top priorities.
One way to provide tax relief, according to the governor, would be to consolidate school administrative districts, freeing up money to be spent on other programs.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say they like what they heard, and look forward to hearing how the governor will make it happen.
The governor also proposed freezing property valuations on homes of permanent residents until they sell their homes.
