Bruins assigned Kessel to baby B’s

The Bruins have assigned rookie center Phil Kessel
to their A-H-L affiliate in Providence for three games.
The 19-year-old Kessel underwent successful surgery on December eleventh for testicular cancer. He returned to practice with Boston this week and the team says his stint in Providence will be for conditioning purposes.
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli says the three games in Providence — beginning tonight against Worcester — will help Kessel &quot:re-adjust to the speed of the N-H-L.&quot:
The rookie will be recalled by Boston Sunday night, after
Providence’s game against Springfield.
Kessel played one season at the University of Minnesota before the Bruins made him their first pick and the fifth overall in the 2006 N-H-L draft.
