Wardens are warning people to stay off the ice after a man from Connecticut drowned Sunday morning when he fell through some thin ice on Rangley lake.
Officials say 69-year-old Hugh Ogden died after falling through the ice while cross country skiing.
Another man crashed through the ice on Pushaw lake in Old Town while out for a ride on a snowmobile.
Wardens say it takes longer for ice to form on the larger lakes, and even though the temperatures have been dipping below freezing the ice is still much too thin.
They advise you keep a careful eye out for inlets and outlets as well as anything sticking out from the ice.
The sun tends to warm those spots first making them more vulnerable to melting.
