Today is a national day of mourning for President Gerald Ford, who died last week. A state funeral will be held at the National Cathedral in Washington for our 38th President.
Here in Maine, Governor John Baldacci will preside over a remembrance ceremony at 12:30 pm in the Blaine house. The ceremony will be open to the public.
In Kittery, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard plans to honor Ford with a 21-gun salute beginning at noon.
Federal offices will be closed today, as will mail service, but state agencies and schools are still open.
