Poland Fatal Accident

POLAND – Six people are dead after they were involved in an early morning car crash in the town of Poland Sunday.

Investigators tell us that a car carrying several former students from Lewiston High School crashed head-on into another car alongRt. 122 in Poland.

The oncoming vehicle was driven by 27-year old Steven Walton of Poland. Both he and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Laura Caron, were killed instantly.

The four individuals in the other car are 20-year-old Jacob Roy, 19-year-old Robert Bruce, 18-year-old Matthew Manley, and 20-year-old Mike Cournoyer.

Neighbors say the roads were icy last night and that people drive too fast on the curvy two-lane road.

Investigators say the car with the four former Lewiston High students was heading toward Auburn when Cournoyer lost control of the car, crossed the yellow line, and crashed head on into Walton’s car.

Lewiston High School saw hundreds of students gathered on Christmas Eve to mourn the loss of their friends and former classmates.
